Thanksgiving in the desert

“Gratitude is a sign of noble souls.
— Aesop

Thanksgiving in the desert is different. Away from the hustle and bustle and often colder weather, here you have the time and space to relax, slow down and appreciate what is truly important – gathering with family and friends to reconnect and rejoice. A special occasion deserves a special place and Parker Palm Springs provides the ideal setting. With so many things for everyone in your party to do and our renowned Palm Springs dining, including a spectacular Thanksgiving dinner, your time here will be an occasion to remember.

Our lush, private, 13-acre desert oasis offers so many ways to spend time together beginning with our three gorgeous swimming pools, each with its own soundtrack and ambience. Reclining poolside in the world’s most comfortable lounge chairs, cocktail in one hand, a complimentary fresh fruit kabob in the other, soaking up the warm California sunshine, it is very easy to be thankful. Relax, refresh, repeat is the mantra of the day.

As wonderful as a day by the pool is, you and yours will want to spend time doing things together and our private, 13-acre estate offers more choices than there are hours in the day. Waking up in your poolside room or private villa, the itinerary for the day is yours to create.

Morning

To get your day started, join our resident Yogi for some morning stretching or head over to our red clay tennis courts to discover your inner Nadal. To really get your body moving, drop in to ‘The Boiler Room’, our fully equipped gym. Afterwards, meet up with the gang for breakfast at Norma’s, our brightly colored, open air terrace restaurant.

Afternoon

As you wander around the lush estate, beneath hundreds of towering palms and fragrant citrus trees, you’ll see that there is something to discover around every corner, including two unique group activity opportunities. Pétanque, a French boules game (think Bocci ball) is a guest favorite. The court is surrounded by shaded tables, ideal for enjoying a glass of Pastis – the traditional drink of the game – while watching each person take turns, becoming more French with each toss.

Picnic and Croquet are another wonderful way to have fun spending time together. Take off your shoes and enjoy the grass between your toes. We’ll set out the stakes for you. All you need to do is choose sides and try to remember which color ball you’re meant to be hitting. The Picnic Basket makes the moment extra special, especially if you include a magnum of champagne.

Thanksgiving Dinner

Come evening, after a day of fun and relaxation, it’s time to gather around the table to celebrate and share gratitude. This year, mister parker’s, our legendary fine dining restaurant will be serving the traditional Thanksgiving Dinner. Chef Pedro Baroso says that the tradition must be respected but a touch of flair has always been appreciated by his guests.

Beverages are an important part of any meal, but especially Thanksgiving because of the distinct flavors for the traditional meal. Miguel Herrera, Director of Restaurants says that cocktails will feature bourbons and spices, to warm both the palate and the soul. “Thanksgiving dinner is all about comfort,” Miguel says.

Post yoga, post poolside, post croquet, post meal, finish your day at our outdoor fire pit. Gazing up at the stars in the spectacular desert night sky, it is a moment that everyone will be grateful for.
