Palm Springs is a natural wonderland that offers so many different outdoor experiences. From desert canyons and hidden oases, to spectacular mountain views and wondrous sunsets, there is so much to discover. Whether you prefer to explore by hiking, biking, horseback riding, or even aerial tram rides, there is something for all levels and interests.

The key to any successful adventure is to ensure you and your team have a good base camp and our resort, considered the best luxury hotel in Palm Springs, is the perfect place to pitch your tent. We offer three gorgeous swimming pools, an incredible on-property spa, award-winning dining, and spectacular accommodations within our thirteen-acre private estate.

Here are some recommended outdoor Palm Springs experiences.

Best easy hikes near Palm Springs

There are many wonderful hikes that begin just minutes from our front door. We can provide a map and recommendations to match your abilities. To make your outing extra special, pre-order a picnic basket (with or without Champagne) from Norma’s, our open-air terrace restaurant.

Hikes in Palm Springs with waterfalls

Tahquitz Canyon Falls — Accessible along a two-mile loop trail, this spectacular 60-foot waterfall appears in Frank Capra’s 1937 film masterpiece, Lost Horizons.

Seven Falls — Located within Indian Canyons, this beautiful, tiered waterfall takes less than an hour to reach along a moderate trail.

Reminder: Tahquitz Canyons and Indian Canyons are gorgeous national treasures, just 15 minutes from Parker Palm Springs. They are maintained and stewarded by the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians Reservation. An entrance fee is required.

Palm Springs Joshua Tree hike

Less than an hour from our resort, the iconic Joshua Tree National Park awaits your exploration. We recommend entering via the north side where Joshua Trees are abundant. Take the Hidden Valley Loop trail for an incredible one-hour walk through the desert.

Horseback riding in Palm Springs

Close to our estate is Smoke Tree Stables, which offers some of the best horseback riding in Palm Springs. One of the most popular rides winds through the incredible Indian Canyons oasis. One hour and forty minutes long. Book your reservation online.

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

The best view in the Coachella Valley. The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway rises to a height of 8,412 feet to the pristine Mt. San Jacinto State Park and Wilderness Area. Here, there are miles of trails to explore, and two restaurants to enjoy including Peaks, a fine dining establishment with amazing views. Pro tip: The temperature at the top is significantly cooler than the valley floor, so bring an extra layer.

Outdoors on our Estate

Our thirteen-acre property, filled with lush gardens and towering palms, offers a myriad of activities and experiences to enjoy and discover. Play tennis on our Terre Battue (red clay) courts or try your hand at Pétanque, the French boules game. If croquet is your game, we have a specially manicured lawn just for you. Come evening, sit back around our outdoor fire pit and be amazed at the night sky in the desert.
