Modernism Week in Palm Springs
“Who ever said that pleasure wasn’t functional?”
— Charles Eames
Palm Springs has long been known as a destination for adventure and discovery, a place of escape where one can disconnect, unwind, and indulge in memorable experiences. Parker Palm Springs understands this innately. Our history, contemporary style, and unmatched flair are all part of why we have come to be known as the finest boutique hotel in Palm Springs.
For the annual Palm Springs Modernism Week, there are few properties that make a better home base than Parker Palm Springs. Designed by Jonathan Adler, one of America’s most influential interior designers working today, our hotel and 13-acre property are an ode to what many consider to be a renaissance period for art, design, and architecture.
Palm Springs is a world-renowned destination for mid-century architecture and is the perfect host city for this signature event. Now in its third decade, Modernism Week was created to “celebrate and foster appreciation of mid-century architecture and design (including) art, fashion, and culture.”
Over eleven days in February, the calendar features more than 350 events and galas hosted by organizations, museums, and societies dedicated to the craft and history of mid-century modernism. From home and architectural tours, to films, lectures, walking tours, nightly parties and live music, classic cars and vintage travel trailers, modern garden tours, and classic fashion, there is something for all interests.
Speaking of fashion, Chris Hagen, Chef Concierge at Parker Palm Springs, says the opportunities abound for exploring mid-century shopping in Palm Springs. “There are many boutiques and specialty shops dedicated to vintage fashion. Also, on the Sunday during Modernism Week, there is a special Palm Springs Vintage Market,” she says.
Our Concierges can also help you explore local architecture at your own pace. Ask about our self-guided tours, hop on one of our complimentary bicycles and wind your way through the neighborhoods renowned for their mid-century modern architecture.
Your time at Parker Palm Springs during Modernism Week will feel like an immersive experience. Every room has its own palette of individually curated pieces and mid-century modernism is reflected in the art, furniture, and design throughout the property.
Our three heavenly-touch temperature swimming pools, each with its own unique ambience are also master works of design. Poolside, a refreshing cocktail in hand, your body warmed by the desert sun, talking with friends old and new, it is easy to lose track of time. This century, last century, mid-century, the pleasure in the moment is your century.
Parker Palm Springs is quietly known as the luxury hotel in Palm Springs. We offer only 144 rooms on thirteen acres of exclusive, private property.
